Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay at Mimaru. The staff went above and beyond to assist us and were outstanding! Thank you! The neighbourhood is quieter than the main tourist area and not very difficult to get around. We took buses, the metro, and walked. But the best transport were the bicycles we hired from a bike store across the street. It was fast, fun and safe to ride around Kyoto on bicycles like a local! The hotel has a few bike parking spaces which was very convenient. The laundry room in the hotel was great and had enough machines and a money machine to exchange bills for 100yen coins. The hotel has a small exercise room which is useful. The room was more spacious than expected, very clean with everything that we needed. The windows could be opened for fresh air when needed. There is a good sized grocery store almost opposite the hotel with fresh food and most products you’d require. We would definitely return to this Mimaru!

The hotel is situated very close to the train station that goes directly to Uji and Fushimi Inari. It's also near several bus stops convenient for Kyoto station and places around the city. It's walkable to Kiyomizu-dera Temple as well, we took about 30 minutes on a very slow walk. The amenities are very good, the disposable slippers were very good quality and lasted us well during our 13 night stay. Housekeeping is excellent, they paid attention to details whenever they did housekeeping like changing the dishwashing sponge and providing more bags for waste disposal.

This is an excellent option for families and I would highly recommend this particular property for long stays with children. The location is walking distance to many sights and public transport. The property itself is spotlessly clean, the rooms are thoughtfully designed for multiple occupants and include every amenity one might need (including cooking utensils). The front desk staff are friendly, efficient, warm and resourceful. They answered every query with a smile and we appreciated their hospitality. We would stay here again.

Mimaru is an excellent choice for staying in Kyoto. It's close to Kiyomizu-Gojō Station, which has excellent access to a few famous visiting spots. There are plenty of places to eat and shop around the hotel. It is a charming area to stay. The staff are tremendously helpful and speak excellent English. The room is spacious, even for the three of us. There are other services like transferring luggage to other hotels in different cities, which we think is excellent.

Room was big compared to other Japanese rooms that we had stayed in. Great to have basic cooking and storage facilities in the room and we really enjoyed being able to have a hot bath at the end of the day. Room was lovely and warm and the staff were very, very helpful. There were also grocery stores, cafes, restaurants and bakeries all within a five minute walk. We had a bento box for breakfast one morning and really enjoyed this experience. While here we used a luggage forwarding service and the staff were very helpful as this was the first time that we had done this. Would definitely stay here again.

All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly! I can't remember the name of the main staff member who assisted us but he had a British accent and all our interactions with him were to be commended. The check-in process was seamless and easy, which was much appreciated after a long day of travel, and our requests for items during our stay were accommodated so readily. We booked the family room with the bunk beds and really liked the set up of the room; several lighting options were available and we liked the roller doors that could partition the kitchen/living space form the sleeping area. The dual sink set up was handy with four of us staying together as well, plus the larger size of the bath was also appreciated (one of us is over 6ft tall). We loved the location - it's so close to Kiyomizu-dera and several restaurants, as well as the river. Will definitely book here again if we visit Kyoto on our next trip to Japan :)

The staffs were very polite, friendly and bilingual. The room is clean and cozy. The Japanese apartment room has fridge, kitchen, nice Japanese style bathroom with tub (toilet is separated), bath towels, hangers, kitchen cutlery, dishes and cups etc. Slippers and toothbrushes are available at the front desk downstairs. They have common laundry room, vending machine (soft drink and cup noodle). They don't have a restaurant for breakfast, but they arrange nice "bento (box lunch)" delivery for the next morning if you pre-order before the cut-off time of the day before. They don't have a convenience store around but have one supermarket nearby.

The overall environment is great. We were surprised that the family room was so large, it could accommodate 26-27-inch suitcases for 3-4 people, and it had complete kitchen equipment, such as microwaves, electric stoves, pots and pans, etc. The bed is also great. In addition to the double bed, which is made up of two single beds, the family room also has bunk beds. Overall, I like this small and unique design. Transportation Location: It takes less than five minutes to walk from Kiyomizu-Gojō Station on the Keihan Line. Also, there is a 24-hour Fresco supermarket right next door to the hotel.

Fabulous room, super comfortable beds, great little kitchen, immaculately clean, modern and lovely hair and body products. We stayed with our family of 5 and loved Kyoto! The room size was great in Japanese sizing standards and as long as we were tidy and organised we were all fine. Staff were fabulous - many spoke fluent English and also assisted with a better train route for our Osaka trip over the Google maps options. We would stay here again and again and couldn’t have been happier.

I really recommend this place if you are planning to travel to Kyoto with small children. The rooms are big enough for you and all your luggage. There's a kitchen area with hob and fridge, so you can cook and store things like milk in your room no problem. There's even a little play area downstairs which our two year old loved running around in before we went out for the day. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They provided information and directions for me when I was looking to buy nappies. There's a laundry room where you can wash and dry your clothes for pennies. Location wise, we found it useful. It was a 20 min walk from Kyoto station and a 15-20 min walk to Gion district, or a 15 min walk to Nishiki market. It's right next to a 24 hour shop with great food options, and it's also right next to a bike rental shop (who sells bikes with kids seats too!) which I recommend as a nice way to explore the city.
